So let me start by being clear, I am not a huge horror film buff, I watch them here and there (I think the last one I saw, was Saw I or II, they all seem the same.) I don’t dislike the genre, I just don’t feel compelled to go out of my way to watch them. Now of course, if it were a zombie flick, then that’s a whole different story! So in a circular logic, round about sense, this is a Zombie flick, a Rob Zombie Flick! Ok that was bad, I admit it.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Rob Zombie, especially his music, but also his distorted vision. I think that is what is drawing me in on this particular movie, more than the name, more than the cast, more than anything else. I feel like if I go see this, I won’t be let down, kinda like going to a Tarentino movie, you know that even if it sucks, it will be something you remember and like.

So while I don’t know much about the plot (is there one?) or the folks starring in the film, I would say just go see this because it’s Rob Zombie!

Having played the current/original Guild Wars for a while and then giving it up to go back to WoW, I’m not sure what to this about a “sequel” for this game. Given the path of MMO’s like World of Warcraft, it seems like the expansion route is the better way to introduce and add new content to the game, not necessarily a whole new game. I played Everquest religiously for years, when EQ2 came around, I played it but it didn’t have the same appeal and charm as EQ1. It was certainly more polished graphically with some better character and equipment options, but it just wasn’t the same. WoW has achieved that balance, I think, through the use of expansions. At any time, I can venture back to an old part of the world, not by loading a new game, but simply by traveling through air and sea. I’ll certainly give GW2 a chance when it releases (as the dev’s say, when its done..) but for now, I will continue to enjoy my WoW.

So we won’t know the tag line for this one until August 21st it appears, but there’s lots of guessing as to what it may be, especially with Kane being figured so prominently. To me that’s not the important part. I’m more concerned about the game play and how it will be different form C&C3 and all the other deviations like Red Alert. Once again, this is another series that has had me hooked since the first version, back in the days when I worked at Acclaim (yes, the now defunct game publisher..) We used to sit in the office playing C&C till all hours of the morning, it was like a drug. The competition it sparked was phenomenal and the water cooler strategy talks were great. But somewhere around ‘Generals’ I started to lose interest. I felt like the game play wasn’t evolving the way I expected, but I also couldn’t pinpoint how I expected it to evolve.

I still play C&C3 with some frequency, but mostly online or the skirmishes, simulating online play. The single player missions have lost my interest, which is fine, I think these games show better as online games. So reading the previews for C&C4, I ‘m seeing some attempts at changing the game play and making it exciting again, but I have my reservations. Having worked in the industry in the past, there’s always some lofty goals for the end product, but many times R&D delivery cycles and marketing and PR commitments cause issue, and things inevitably are removed or dropped, simply for the sake of time. I think I just need to excuse my cynicism here and hope for the best!

This is the umpteenth time I’ve heard a rumor that there would be a sequel, but today io9.com actually perpetuated the rumor some more with some info that Bob Hoskins may not reprise his role in such a film. It’s been such a long time since the original, I need to watch it again to refresh my memory. But does it need a sequel? I recall it being groundbreaking at the time for the real life – animation combination, but given today’s standards, the whole impact of it being groundbreaking is kinda lost, isn’t it? So does that mean they will need to rely on the story now?!

As a kid Tron just blew me away. As an adult, Tron blew me away (except I just now realize how bad some of the effects were..) but still, the story, idea and concept were for the geek at heart. So its no surprise with the announcements over the years of a reboot (I was kinda hoping that would be the name too), that when it became official, and by official I mean, we got to see a trailer with actual proof, I couldn’t stop watching it over and over. I cannot wait for more info, video and images to leak out on this (and be sure you will find them here!) More importantly, I cannot wait for this to open in theaters!

Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. So why not milk it for all its worth and make another movie some 23 years later? Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the first one, granted I didn’t get it until the mid 90′s when I was working through the Dot Com Boom, and suddenly I started to see Gordon Gekko in many of the clients I was working for. So maybe the new movie will have some insights into and parallel the greed of people like Bernie Madoff. I guess its too early to tell, I just see this as a sequel being made for the sole purpose of making more money….

OMG more Zombies! I’m sure that’s a common reaction to the announcement that L4D2 will be coming around soon. On the flip side, there is some resentment amongst the die hard community since it feels like us L4D1 owners are getting the shaft and not getting the additional content we were expecting all along.

That said, this is one of those few games were I really don’t care, and see no reason to complain! The first installment was such a kick ass amazing game providing more hours of game play than most games I’ve played to date, that I’ll gladly fork over the $$ for a new and improved version with new weapons, new game play and improved AI. I’m sure I’m not alone.. or am I? Or am I just surrounded by Zombies!

Battlefield 1943 is yet another in a series of Battlefield games from DICE. For years, I have been playing these games since the first Battlefield 1942 on the PC, and I can safely say, I have bought every version on just about every platform over the years. 1943 is no exception, and you will NOT be disappointed. I currently own this on the Xbox 360, and it has provided hours of fun and its sure to offer many more in the days to come.

One of the biggest (yet really small) things I noticed immediately, was the ability to inflict more damage on the terrain than in other iterations of the game. Its something very insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but its that attention to detail that highlights how much effort has gone into producing this game.

Beyond that, the effort and detail being put into the game made everyone wonder if they would continue the cinematic series? Well, its going to happen! Many of the original cast have made comments about their commitments to the movie, or their desire (or lack of) to appear in another installment. Let me be the first to say that the kid in me is super excited!
